Principle 17 starts new petition "Structural expansion of transgender health care is highly necessary!"

Principle 17 is deeply concerned about the again dramatically accumulated waiting times in transgender health care. That is why this collective has started the petition "Structural expansion of transgender health care is essential!". Help us and sign the petition too!

The petition is addressed to the Lower House (‘Tweede Kamer’) and can be signed until 1 August 2018. The more people sign the petition, the more powerful the signal that the petition will bring. Signing can also be done anonymously.

The problem
The petition follows the usual structure: first the current problems that cause the unacceptably long waiting times are raised. Then one concrete recommendation is made: solve this distressing situation! And this time structurally.

The solution
The long-standing problem of waiting times is inextricably linked to the current rigid system of Dutch transgender health care. Because the capacity of the gender teams does not grow along with the demand, waiting times can only get out of hand.

The solution is simple: implement the principle of self-diagnosis (by means of the threefold approach) and consider transgender health care as the usual care it is. In short, stop the exceptional position for transgender health care recipients.
